Cockburn is a good, inclusive and improving school serving the multicultural community in the south of the city. Our current priorities are to continue to raise achievement and standards across the curriculum, to continue to raise attendance and to improve literacy skills across the cohort.

The school has a very supportive staff with a wide range of experience and the leadership team is working well to ensure that academic standards are maintained and improved and the new school building offers exciting possibilities for the future of the school and curriculum with a performing arts specialism. We have recently become a leading partner in the Yorkshire Inclusive Teaching Schools Alliance.

The governors fully support the ethos of Cockburn and through governors' meetings, and more informally, challenge the school appropriately to continue the improvement it has shown over many years now.
